# Maintenance Logs

> Capture operational activity that is not a chemistry test, such as repairs, cleaning, and chemical additions.

Maintenance Logs capture operational activity that is not a chemistry test.

## Best for

* documenting repairs and upkeep
* tracking chemical additions outside test entry
* keeping a written history of non-chemistry operations

## Purpose

Use maintenance logs for:

* chemical additions
* cleaning work
* inspections
* equipment repair
* filter media replacement
* other facility operations

## List page

Go to:

The page supports filtering by:

* location
* pool
* start date
* end date

### Desktop view

Desktop shows:

* time
* location / pool
* category
* description
* submitted by

### Mobile view

Mobile shows:

* time
* location / pool

## Creating a maintenance log

Go to:

Maintenance Logs > Add maintenance log
```

### Fields captured

* location
* pool (optional)
* date and time
* category
* description

### Category suggestions

The current form includes suggested categories:

* Chemical Addition
* Filter Media Replacement
* Equipment Repair
* Cleaning
* Inspection
* Other

### Pool is optional

If an activity applies to the whole facility rather than one body of water, leave the pool blank and the log will remain location-scoped only.

## Editing and deleting

Maintenance logs support:

* edit
* soft delete

Deleted items are removed from routine lists but are still intended to remain audit-visible for compliance purposes.

## Best practices

* use precise descriptions
* include material amounts when logging chemical additions
* tie work to a specific pool whenever possible
* use consistent categories so filtering stays useful
